Type 1 (Vinyl on ½" fiberboard):
The most economical tackable surface available consists of Type I
or Type II vinyl factory laminated to ½" fiberboard core. This
application is perfect for hallways, over lockers and where full
height tackable walls are required. *
Type 2 (¼" natural cork on ¼" hardboard):
Architects have been specifying ¼" natural cork
factory-laminated on to ¼" hardboard as a standard type
tackboard construction for many years. Natural cork’s self healing
properties close push pin holes after they have been removed.
Type 3 (¼" burlap backed cork on ¼"
hardboard):
¼" burlap backed cork or colored cork factory laminated to
¼" hardboard, is a durable and washable tackable surface that
has the same self healing properties of natural cork and is an
excellent way to add color into any environment. **
Type 4 (vinyl on ¼" cork on ¼" hardboard):
Type I or Type II vinyl factory-laminated to ¼" natural
cork. Both cork and ¼" hardboard are easily maintained and
cleaned. This tackable surface is the most widely specified by
architects because it has a washable surface and the natural self
healing properties of cork assist the vinyl’s in closing after
being punctured with a push pin. *
Type 5 (vinyl on 1/8" cork on 3/8" fiberboard):
This is Polyvision’s tackboard of choice. Made up of Type I or
Type II vinyl factory laminated to 1/8" Cork and 3/8"
fiberboard gives the same attributes as our type 4, however the it
will allow a 3/8" pushpin blade to be penetrated because the
core material is made of a cellulose material. *, ***
Type 6 (100% polyester fabric laminated to ¼" cork
on ¼" hardboard):
100% Polyester fabric factory-laminated to ¼" natural cork
and ¼" hardboard gives this tackable surface a less
institutional look without giving up standard tacking properties.
*100% Polyester fabric is available on Type I, IV and V.
**Also available as 1/8" Colored cork with 3/8" Backing
(Note: not all colors available in 1/8")
