Butt Matched Ceramic Steel Skins
(referred to as skins when there is no wood backing and frame.  you just get the steel with the ceramic coating on the one side) can be used to make a full wall to wall installation

The LCS has been discontinued by Claridge and it was able to be sheared cleanly and cheaply to make buttable surfaces.   The New LCS-11 if bought in standard panels has a factory edge that has some paint overspray on it and is the edge that came from the mill. and is stocked in Texas in #75 low gloss in 4x6 and 4x8 ft skins.    The edge is very close to the old sheared LCS and people are BUTT matching the stock panels with great success.

To get custom sizes of the #75 the material needs to be lazer cut.   If you shear it, it will spall and all the edges need to be covered or trimmed out to look their best.  Part of the problem with the sheared edge is that their is a dark layer between the ceramic surface and the steel.  This dark layer does show as a black line with the shearing so the factory edge looks much better because the black is hidden and there is no spalling.    Cost per sheet to laser cut is $80 and a fairly long time
important installation info

our #16A adhesive will not work on LCS-II skins.  We are currently running tests on various contact adhesives available on the market and will forward info when available.  Until then, I can tell you that the installer I use in Dallas uses WilsonArt #500 roll-on contact adhesive to mount these direct-to-wall.  We recommend a level 3 or Level 4 finish.  Our DC also stocks Claridge #272A Snap-on trim in 8’-6” and 12’-6” lengths.

Wilsonart #500 is replaced by Wilsart LW600 approx $100 / 5 Gallon pail
